I finally have safe clean water that I can cook clean and bathe in. It has only taken 6 days. Isn't coal great!?!?

Wonder how long you'll have to run to get clean water.

this is after the "cleanout" process.

There was a chemical spill in my area. It leached into the water supply and shut down the water to 300,000 people for 6 days. I was lucky and got water this AM, about 200,000 other people still have toxic water and can't use the water, period.
This is what is coming out after the water had been deemed "safe"

Also, just to let you know, I live in the USA, not a developing 3rd world country. Sad times.

THIS WATER IS SAFE!? ........

I haven't tried it after the cleanout process. BUT, I did do it before. It was weird as hell man. The light didn't go out, you just held it under water and it would keep on burning. The water that is coming out of my faucet now still smells like the chemical too. I don't know if it is enough to keep the lighter going, but I may try it when I get home.

Holy shit. Is this a real photo??

They are trying to compensate you by making your water Gatorade. The only problem is that no one likes orange...

Hot and cold running corn syrup?
AWESOME!
Seriously, though, that sucks. Who the hell stores 48 thousand gallons of chemicals on the edge of a river upstream from a water plant?

Yes, this is after the lines were purged to clean out the bad water....this is the clean water.

Seriously, Would not touch that you might turn into an oompa loompa. And go get a Lifestraw if you plan to attempt to drink any of that. Looks like they are pumping the Ohio river right into your faucet.

It isn't this dirty everywhere. I am still not brushing my teeth or drinking it. Bottled water all the way. I will however, wash my hands in the clear stuff.

Wait this is supposed to be clean water?

I would suggest that you take off all of your aerators and allow any particle in the water to not get stuck in them.

I don't think that filter would work. That's designed to filter out bacteria, but chemicals are much smaller, and I would wager they would pass right thru.

Ummm? It is clean water? What does your water look like?

Not like Gatorade...

Would be interested to find out (not at the expense of another oppo member but rather have someone pump this liquid through one and see A) how it looks and B) if it is chemically safe.

"We must further deregulate the safety standards governing safe tap water and privatize what is left of the public water infrastructure! It will solve everything I tell you!"

"Clean" coal. We only have Clean Coal now. Go drink your clean coal water and be grateful.

South ridge. It cleaned up when I was home last night. It still smells, there is still sediment. I'm not using it to brush my teeth or drink. Only shower.

The problem isn't privatization. The problem is general shitheadism.

Right, it sounds as if this disaster occured simply because existing rules/regs were not enforced correctly
